Artificial Eye – Prosthetic Eyes – Orbital Prosthesis Prosthetic Artificial Eye / Orbital Prosthesis Services
An artificialeye or prosthetic eye with lids may be called an orbital prosthesis. An orbital prosthesis is a removable artificial eye prosthetic that artificially restores the eye, eyelids, and surrounding bone and skin lost as a result of trauma or surgery. An orbital prosthesis offers, or artificial eye offers an alternative to rehabilitation when surgical reconstruction of an orbit cannot be achieved.

Prosthetic, or artificial eyes can be attached either through the use of adhesives or craniofacial implants. Orbital prostheses are made from a medical grade silicone that is intrinsically colored to match the specific pigmentation of the individual and contains an artificial eye that is made out of acrylic, which is commonly referred to as a “glass eye”. While an artificial eye will not blink or move in harmony with the remaining eye, it blends into the face making it look whole once again.
